Hello!
My name is Mike - it's great to meet you!
I am a composer of music for media and school bands. I am also an educator and percussionist, representing Innovative Percussion, Inc. I am Adjunct Professor of Percussion at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Music Director for the Alabama Department of Youth Services.
Recent composition projects have included an album of electronic rock music under the alias [object 0bject].
That album is called Up, Up, Down, Down and can be found on any of the major streaming sites! Additionally, I have scored the independent film, Who Needs It?, adapted from the stage production of the same name.
I also host Taking Creative License, a podcast about the creative arts, found on most podcasting services.
I am a graduate of Samford University School of Music in Birmingham, AL and the Oklahoma State University Department of Music in Stillwater, OK. My performance studies have been with Dr. Tracy Wiggins, Dr. John W. Parks, Dr. Grant Dalton, and Wayne Bovenschen. My composition instructors and mentors include Dr. Mike D'Ambrosio, Guy Jones, and Richard (Schrieber) Pryn.
I hope you'll go on this journey with me! Enjoy my music, engage in my social media outlets, and join me on TCL for great interviews with creative humans across the globe about their process and passions.
